WHO AM I

Let me introduce myself. My name is Cor Anneese, by profession I am a psychologist. From a young age I was interested in people’s psychological problems, which is why I chose this field of study.
Later I specialized in behavior therapy, by means of which it is very possible to help people suffering from phobias. My tutor, Professor J.T. Barendregt, a well-known chess master, carried out interesting research in the 1970s on human volunteers, and with much élan started the so-called ‘phobia project’. I believe that this was an important reason why I developed a greater interest in such questions as, “where do phobias come from?”, but more particularly, “what can you do about them?”
It is common knowledge that psychiatric outpatients departments always have long waiting lists, which was reason enough for me to decided to hold lectures on helping oneself. Making use of film and other projection material, I started lecturing on this subject in the 1970s.
Much later, in the 1990s, I became aware that self-help programs were an excellent means for teaching clients to help themselves. For this reason, I decided to publish the book ‘Banish your Phobia’, together with journalist Tino Pol.
In Cor Anneese’s own words:“I was very pleased with this book. For me it was the proof that self-help works, and the reason why it was borrowed so often from the local library. Clients have shown great satisfaction with the self-help programs, and these are also used by behavior therapists in their day-to-day practice.”
Three editions of this book have been published in the Netherlands . And it is now available in electronic book form via this website. It is interesting to note that the German version of the book, ‘Wege aus der Phobie’, was extremely popular in Germany , Austria and Switzerland . And so, it is no surprise that second hand versions of this publication are still available through the German book dealer www.amazon.de.
“Because I myself was scared to death of the dentist, I wrote the self-help book ‘Bad Dreams about the Dentist’, which constantly goes to prove that, with the help of behavior therapy treatment programs, anxious clients can rid themselves of their fears.”
The self-help book ‘Goodbye Fear of Flying’ is due to be published in 2006, with travelers and business people who are afraid of flying as its target group.
Writing books is the breath of life to me, and for those who are interested; details of my other publications can be found on my website. I should perhaps add that I am a psychologist with an established practice in Eindhoven , the Netherlands , where I have been using the fastest and most efficient method of eyeball movement therapy for many years. A method which is gaining ever more recognition in this country. I am also extremely interested in working from a spiritual point of view, and am convinced that this has helped me, due to an inner feeling of equality, to work with my clients.
